A new Awakening the Domestic Church Project: an original comedy by John M Forte Jr
Comedy and humor are essential to healthy living! Did you know that scientific medical
evidence shows that comedy helps keep your blood pressure maintained which reduces
stress levels in your blood vessels? This contributes to better heart functioning. So,
watching funny movies or TV shows helps you relax, and leads improved blood flow,
and can prevent heart attacks.
In fact, Jesus knew all this long before television and film came about as storytelling
mediums. He told parables. He used stories that capture our heart and imagination and
guide us to moral and challenging truths.
Here’s what AWAKENING THE DOMESTIC CHURCH, partnered with CMAX MEDIA, has
figured out: emotional truth and humorous observations of various situations
characters are involved in not only captivate an audience but can be a huge teaching
and formation tool. We have a first series ready to produce, that is a COMEDY from a
Catholic Christian worldview that can be enjoyed by believers and non-believers alike as
a powerful tool for bridge-building evangelism.
Welcome to STREAMING HEAVEN! Our comedy utilizes the premise of a young woman,
Jenna Abbot inheriting a large amount of money after her grandmother Genevieve
Abbott passes away. However, it comes with the proviso that Jenna must make a 5 year
go of a Christian streaming network, named STREAMING HEAVEN, before she can get
the money. This has agnostic Jenna confused and exasperated. The Streaming Heaven
gang are unique characters ranging from a priest to a research geek, all with the love of
God and wanting to get the word out through entertainment and educational
approaches. Jenna is reluctant to enter this world of faith, both angry and leery that her
grandmother Genevieve Abbott had a deep conversion experience before she passed.
She is distrustful that her grandmother was not coerced into giving her money toward a
useless cause! Jenna is also reticent to enter this “idealistic wacky group” as she calls
them, since she is forced to put on hold her dreams of opening up a restaurant. But
Jenna is surrounded by loving people who want to change the world with God’s love,
and while she may roll her eyes at it all, she is impressed with their actions.
So what happens? Stay tuned as the comedy, STREAMING HEAVEN enters into the
living rooms as something the whole family can watch and dare we say, laugh at,
together. Look below to see what you can expect.
