September 23, 2023: Feast of Saint Padre Pio
Franciscan Association of Permanent Deacons and Wives
Are you interested in joining a new Franciscan Association being designed for deacons and wives
that will be aligned under the new CHARIS Public Association of the Faithful at the Vatican? Our
primary mission will be to 1) Form families into missionary disciples, 2) Develop an online pre-
diaconate formation process using ChristLife as our process evangelization system to discern
potential candidate couples, and 3) Provide a simple Franciscan Rule of Life for families in
neighborhoods that will fulfill Pope Leo XIII’s direction and Kevin Cardinal Farrell’s desire for laity and
clergy across the globe. If you are interested, please read the attached documents for background.
Throughout the month of October 2023, Catholic Bishops will be meeting for the Synod on Synodality.
The Holy Father, who chose the name Francis, wants to fulfill St. Francis’s dream to “Go rebuild My
Church!” The Pope will be there. Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, Priests, Seminarians, and laity will
all be there. But no deacons. Most dioceses around the world have yet to fully embrace the vision of
the permanent diaconate, but not out of neglect! It is probably out of cost and priority. As we enter the
next phase of implementing Pope Saint Paul VI’s desire bring the Church into the modern era, the
time has come for families to embrace a missionary spirit. The time has come for evangelized
couples to embrace the call to lifelong, simple, intentional service in their domestic church – their
home. Everyone lives in a secular neighborhood that needs to be transfigured into the Christian
neighborhood God the Father intends.
History
After Vatican Council ONE, Pope Leo XIII was installed as the Holy Father. He was much like our
modern Pope Saint John Paul II. He was a mystic and very prophetic. “On September 25, 1888,
following his morning Mass, Pope Leo XIII became traumatized to the point that he collapsed. Those
in attendance thought that he was dead. After coming to consciousness, the pope described a
frightful conversation that he had heard coming from near the tabernacle. The conversation
consisted of two voices – voices which Pope Leo XIII clearly understood to be the voices of Jesus
Christ and the Devil. The Devil boasted that he could destroy the Church, if he were granted 75
years to carry out his plan (or 100 years, according to some accounts). The Devil also asked
permission for “a greater influence over those who will give themselves to my service.” To the Devil’s
requests, Our Lord reportedly replied: “you will be given the time and the power.”” The Pope wrote
the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel which we prayed until March 1965. The Church of Satan was
founded shortly after we stopped, but on September 29, 2018 Pope Francis asked us to start praying
it again.
Pope Leo XIII was friends with a Catholic nun named Sister Elaina Guerra who convinced him to
write a Novena to the Holy Spirit invoking the Holy Spirit on the upcoming 20 th century. She sensed it
was going to be a time of great attack against the family, especially men. Millions of men died in wars
during the last century. The Holy Father asked every bishop in the world to pray for a new Pentecost
to fall upon the world on the eve of the new century. But for various reasons they refused. So, he did
it himself on December 31, 1900. The next day the Holiness movement in the Wesleyan Methodist
tradition, who had been praying the same thing, received a personal Pentecost experience at The
Bethel Bible College in Topeka, KS. The experience birthed the Pentecostal Holiness movement. You
can read the full story from AB Naumann, who owns that site, now called Most Pure Heart of Mary
Catholic Parish HERE.
The fourth initiative that Pope Leo XIII initiated was the call for the renewal of the Secular Franciscan
Order for the laity. He desired that families be able to adopt a simple rule of life that would help them
grow in holiness and evangelize their neighbors. The Anglicans adopted the dream and created the
Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. They helped the Secular Franciscan Order become
reestablished, then entered the ecumenical movement in the early 20 th century. They were among the
first Evangelical traditions to enter into Full Communion with the Roman Catholic Church. That order
is responsible for establishing the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity held each year from January 18-
25.
In 2008 as part of the Catholic Fraternity’s conference in Assisi, IT Catholic lay evangelists, bishops
and cardinals were part of the papal audience with Pope Benedict XVI, led by Lay Ecumenist, Matteo
Calisi. You can watch it HERE. The Catholic Fraternity began preparing to engage more deeply with
the Holy Father’s vision for the Year of Faith (2012: The Finding of the Child in the Temple,
Evangelization 2033) that was beginning to be planned.
In essence, Pope Benedict was fulfilling Pope LEO XIII’s, and all of his predecessor’s dreams, to
prepare the Church for the end of the 2 nd Millennium of Christianity. We have been praying to Restore
Full Communion among all in the Family of God. Deacons are critical to this vision since we are
called and sent as ministers of service different from “transitional” deacons, like many of us are
treated. Franiscan priests of the Third Order Regular and others have agreed to help North American
Deacons, and their wives, form a new Private Association of the Christian Faithful called “The
Franciscan Association of Francis and Claire”. Our call will be to form laity into Missionary Disciples
for the New Missionary Age. For those of you who know John Michael Talbot and his wife Viola,
married Franciscan Friars in the New Monistic style, their life shows the seeds of the vision. Please
read this BOOK. Evangelical Catholic priest Msgr. Shea wrote the book. He talked about the current
state of the laity HERE. It is worth listening to it in small groups.
In January 2023, Charismatic leaders from the USA met in Maimi to complete the work for a new
book that CHARIS USA has been developing. This book will become our primary guide for formation.
It is the culmination of the ministry of Charismatic Renewal and Ecumenism since 2008 when Matteo
Calisi met with Pope Benedict XVI. It is called A Grace for the Whole Church. The CHARIS USA
team sent a copy to every Bishop in the United States and to the Papal Nuncio. Please obtain a copy
by contacting Pentecost Today USA. If you are a deacon or a deacon’s wife and you have
experienced the Baptism in the Spirit, we want to connect with you. The official “Start Date” will be
October 4 th , the Feast of St. Francis: the Deacon. We will be releasing the film Preacher to the
Popes: Raniero Cantalamessa Ministry Edition and share the vision for Neighborhood
Communities of Good Samaritans. Connect with us to “Go rebuild My Church!”
