News from ADC
Virginia Beach, November 28, 2023 – In response to Pope Francis's heartfelt call, on November 4th, for the laity to engage in the restoration of unity among Christians, the Awakening of the Domestic Church project (ADC), a dynamic non-profit church ministry, is taking proactive steps to encourage Christians from all traditions to build relationships with their Christian neighbors. With a mission deeply rooted in faith, ADC seeks to inspire a sense of adoptive family relationships by encouraging Christians to reach out to their neighbors, inviting them to rediscover the deep love of our Heavenly Father. This initiative aims to foster unity, strengthen communities, and positively impact society, especially the materially poor and the poor in spirit.
The Mission of Awakening of the Domestic Church (ADC): At the core of ADC's mission is a profound belief in the power of faith in our common baptism, to unite communities through a visible Christian expression. ADC encourages Christians to take a simple yet impactful step – prayer walk your neighborhood, greet your neighbors, and form friendships that mirror the Love of God the Father for all humanity. Invite them to rediscover the beauty of faith together. By forming relationships with neighbors, friends, and fellow believers, ADC believes communities can be transformed and strengthened through shared faith experiences helping Christians become instruments of peace, like St. Francis of Assisi envisioned. This Franciscan mindset aligns closely with Pope Benedict XVI’s and Pope Francis's vision for relational unity among Christians. ADC is committed to echoing the Vatican's call by fostering connections and relationships among Christians of various traditions, not overlooking theological differences, but rather focusing on the shared foundation of love, compassion, biblical grounding, and faith in the Lordship of Jesus as Messiah. Raniero Cardinal Cantalamessa, OFM Cap, the Preacher to the Papal Household, has been instrumental in articulating this decades long Papal vision. “His ecumenical ministry is featured as the first of our Trilogy of films that will help Christians begin to form biblical relationships with each other,” says Bill Snyder, ADC’s Senior Facilitator. ADC's spiritual director, Deacon Darrell Wentworth, stated, "In a world filled with misunderstanding and suspicion, we believe that faith in Jesus is the unifying force that binds us all together. Our mission is simple yet profound: we encourage Christians to reach out to their neighbors, extend a hand of friendship, and rediscover the joy and beauty of authentic biblical faith as a united community. It’s about experiencing a personal Transfiguration: seeing our neighborhoods through the eyes of our Father! Together, we can inspire an entire community to become ministers of Peace, in the Prince of Peace, offering a powerful testimony to the strength of faith." Awakening of the Domestic Church invites Christians worldwide to join hearts in unity and reach out to their neighbors, knowing that through these small relationships of faith, communities can be transformed, and the world can become what God intends for His family. About Awakening the Domestic Church Awakening of the Domestic Church (ADC) is a non-profit Church ministry project, dedicated to building neighborhood-based communities of missionary disciples among Christians of all traditions. Founded in 2012, under the inspiration of Pope Benedict XVI, they believe that families are Schools of Evangelization which must create authentic missionary disciples. ADC encourages Christians to learn their faith tradition well, then form relationships with their fellow Christian neighbors. By transforming secular neighborhoods into Christian communities, we can rediscover the joy and beauty of our common faith and manifest the Glory of God. By promoting unity based on biblical inspiration and the patristic tradition, neighbors who share faith experiences change minds and hearts toward Christ. ADC communities will positively impact society and create a more peace-filled world.
